Newry City Ladies FC kick off 'Footgolf' Craze in Carlingford
The 'Footgolf' craze - a cross between football and golf – has kicked off in the North East.
Played on a specially-adapted course with footballs and bigger-sized balls, a new 9-hole course has been introduced to the range of activities available at Skypark Adventure Park. The football and golf crossover is said to be one of Ireland and the UK's most popular new sports. Newry City Ladies had a ‘ball’ and are recommending the course for anyone looking to improve their skills or just looking for a bit of craic with family or friends. A team representative said “The girls had so much fun launching the new Footgolf course at Skypark, the staff were brilliant and the facilities first class”.
Footgolf is thought to have originated in Spain around 2008 and has since grown to worldwide popularity being played by thousands of people. It can be taken seriously with many competitions and even a World Cup being held, but more people use it just to improve their football skills or have a bit of fun with family and friends.
The new Skypark Footgolf course can be booked online through their website www.skypark.ie or you can turn up and pay as you go at only €10 per person. It’s great for all ages and joins Skypark’s impressive list of activities including Ireland’s largest Aerial Adventure & Ziplines course, Aeroball, Frisbee Disc Golf, Quazer and Mini Golf. Managing Director Thomas McArdle commented “We are continually reinvesting in our facilities, growing to cater for the expanding outdoor adventure market. We offer families, friends and teams fun activities away from technology and stress in the beautiful outdoors”
To celebrate the launch Skypark are running a 2 people for the price of 1 on Footgolf this bank holiday Monday 5th June. This can be booked through their website using promotion code ‘footgolf2for1’.
